Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov on Monday, on eve of NSA AK Doval’s Moscow trip, took a dig at US tech transfer to India by stating, “nothing near the advanced technology transfer we do. The US is good at advertising. We don't mix tech transfers with politics.
The Russian Ambassador to India pointed out that Russian technology is quite advanced and that Moscow doesn’t mix technology transfer with politics, unlike the US which is rather good at “advertising.”
ET was the first to report that Doval will visit Moscow in February for regional dialogue on Afghanistan and will meet his Russian counterpart Gen Nikolay Patrushev on the sidelines to discuss a host of issues including state of Ukraine conflict and bilateral strategic partnership.
Sometimes it’s amusing to read about the US posting about its defense cooperation with India as it offers something exclusive. Nothing near the level of advanced technology transfer we do offer. What the US is good at though is advertising including the poor performance of Russian weapons in Ukraine,” Alipov said while speaking on Russia-India defence cooperation, adding that the level of defence cooperation between the two nations is unprecedented.
Alipov also hoped for "normalisation" of India China ties but said he won't "suggest anything" for bilateral relations and described the border situation between India- China "serious". It may be recalled that Russia has balanced.
Scoffing statements of Russia playing second fiddle to China, the envoy noted that Moscow is not a junior partner of Beijing.
In a word of advice for Pakistan the Russian envoy noted that Islamabad’s anti-India policy is not in anyone’s interest.
Alipov was speaking at the Centre for Global India Insights (CGII) hosted a forum discussion ‘Next Steps in India-Russia Strategic Partnership: Old Friends, New Horizons’ here in order to mark the 30th anniversary of the 1993 Treaty of India-Russia Friendship Treaty.
